Hey Reader, If I've seen them, I know you have. Those viral and stunning black eggs that get shared around social media that makes you want to slam down you credit card right that moment. I get it. They're absolutely beautiful. But depending on what's actually being sold, you may be getting scammed. No healthy chicken lays black eggs. How do I know this? Because we raise Svarthona (totally black coloring) chickens, we get asked about black eggs. And I wish I could say they lay these gorgeous black eggs but they lay light tan and cream colored eggs. Beautiful in their own way, but they're definitely not going to be viral on social media. Now there are some poultry that do lay blackish (or as close as you can get) eggs, but it's just not chickens. Want to learn more? Ciao for now! Jamie P.s. We still have some Svarthona chicks available for local pickup! |

I've compiled the hatch results from the eggs I shipped out a while back, from eggs shipped to me (guinea fowl), and from my own Svarthöna eggs hatched in-house....
Hey Reader, I realize as it starts warming up outside that heating up your kitchen by baking loaves of bread is the last thing on your To Do List. BUT hear me out I had to share this recipe that makes me finally feel like I can bake sourdough loaves. It's so easy. I don't have to discard sourdough starter. I'm not babying the loaves and taking them on errands because they needs a bajillion folds. And I've only "ruined" two loaves by accidentally forgetting them overnight in the oven while...
Hey Reader, Gonna be honest here. I didn't weigh the puppies this week. the horror Other tasks took up my time and let me tell you, it's not super easy weighing these little (but growing!) cotton balls nowadays. I do hope to weigh them today or tomorrow to have some data for this week. Our time with them is slowly coming to an end which is bittersweet. In a couple of weeks they'll be ready for their new homes and jobs. I will absolutely miss being greeted every day by 7 overly exuberant...
