do black chickens lay black eggs?

Hey Reader, If I've seen them, I know you have. Those viral and stunning black eggs that get shared around social media that makes you want to slam down you credit card right that moment. I get it. They're absolutely beautiful. But depending on what's actually being sold, you may be getting scammed. No healthy chicken lays black eggs. How do I know this? Because we raise Svarthona (totally black coloring) chickens, we get asked about black eggs. And I wish I could say they lay these gorgeous black eggs but they lay light tan and cream colored eggs. Beautiful in their own way, but they're definitely not going to be viral on social media. Now there are some poultry that do lay blackish (or as close as you can get) eggs, but it's just not chickens. Want to learn more? Ciao for now! Jamie P.s. Hey Reader, Incubating season is coming to an end as we're just finishing up two incubators of guinea fowl (shipped in) and our own Svarthöna eggs. Although I admit, we're probably gonna do another run of guinea fowl eggs to beef up our tick, snake, and bug defense here. But here's the info I've been waiting to share with you! I didn't weigh the puppies this week. the horror Other tasks took up my time and let me tell you, it's not super easy weighing these little (but growing!) cotton balls nowadays.
